I have been a crafter for as long as I can remember, but always wanted to be considered an artist and a creative. Fast forward to March 2020 and life as many of us know it drastically changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I in no way maintained my composure when I found out that we would need to shelter-in-place. I needed to find something that would help me relax and take my mind off the craziness going on in the world. I found exactly what I needed in an aisle at Michael’s: pour painting.
After researching some methods, I took my first canvas and began this endeavor. Once I made my first painting, I was hooked! And by hooked, I mean that I made 4 paintings on day 1 and I knew quickly that I had found my niche. As the days went by, I began to learn different techniques, found new pouring recipes, researched what the best paints are, and how to finish my paintings to perfection. Every day during the Work From Home order, I couldn’t wait for my lunch break or when the clock struck 5 so I could walk the 3 feet from the office area to my “art studio” and create something new.
Creating these pieces everyday fills me with so much joy! From choosing my color pallet, to picking the canvas size and choosing the pouring technique I wish to use, every step is one I find joy and relaxation in. I hope that these pieces bring that joy to you and your home.
